Rooms
Equipped with traditional wood-paddle ceiling fans as well air conditioning, ultra-luxurious guest suites measure a generous 1,200 square feet. Spacious furnished terraces or small juliet balconies off bedrooms provide sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea. Living rooms are divided by an arch to create a sitting area with a loveseat and a built-in couch, plus a large, marble-topped desk. Antiqued blue furniture predominates, including an entertainment center that contains a 27-inch television, a DVD/CD player, and a minibar.
Behind archway drapes, bedrooms feature platform beds with Italian Frette linens and include 25-inch televisions. Suites offer one of six decor motifs (Balinese, Oriental, Caribbean, Indian, Mediterranean, African).
Huge 20-by-10-foot marble-and-stone bathrooms are furnished with Bulgari toiletries. Bowl-sinks of either crystal or porcelain rest atop twin marble vanities. A sunken marble tub accommodates at least two adults. The wall behind the tub contains a window with a garden view and a venetian blind for privacy. Adjacent to the tub is a two-person stall shower with a bench and a little green garden outside its glass back wall. Thick Frette towels are soft as clouds.

Dining
La Canoa - Executive Chef Fabrice Guisset employs French techniques and prime local ingredients to craft meals of exceptional finesse. Decor features upside-down black Mayan canoes hanging from the high ceiling and arched alcoves with colorful murals depicting fruit and offering high-backed banquette seating. White linens, blue glassware, Riedel wine glasses, knowledgeable, gracious service—including menu consultations with Guisset—and a choice of inside, air-conditioned seating or open-air terrace tables make dinner at La Canoa a memorable experience. The international wine list includes all the best French Champagne names as well as some first-growth Bordeaux selections to pair with choices such as smoked-duck salad, lobster bisque with seafood quenelles, and veal medallions in morel sauce.
The Restaurant - Cheekily named and decorated, this indoor/outdoor spot features a jungle painting covering the walls and ceiling, jungle-print banquettes with high backs and plush pillows, and music with a beat. For breakfast there are Mexican and American choices. Lunch offers steaks, burgers, pastas, and seafood dishes. At dinner, La Canoa's menu is available—but without that restaurant's dress code.
Pool Bar - Shaded by an immense palapa, the open-air Pool Bar includes lounge seating on big, white-cushioned rattan chairs.
All menus at the resort include low-calorie, spa-cuisine choices.
24-hour room service is available.
