"Best service EVER"
my wife and I stayed here, and unfortunately we were there during Hurricane Wilma. The staff at the omni are incredible. They will take care of you at any cost. They will even risk their lives to make sure you are safe first. Beautiful hotel, view, service. I will never stay at a different hotel if there is an omni there. Thank you for everything you did for us while we were there!!!

"What a awesome honeymoon..."
After much debate we chose the Omni for our honeymoon and what a great decision. We stayed for 9 nights and wished it was longer. I could go on and on about the Omni so I will try to limit myself by touching on some key areas:

Our room -
When we got there the front desk informed us our suite was given away and they were going to put us in a villa. I told them this wasn't acceptable and insisted on talking to the manager who worked out a deal with us after apologizing for the trouble (never really got a reason why our room was given away though). He put us in a average room for the first 2 nights and gave us a $100 spa credit PLUS after the first 2 nights we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite for the rest of our stay. What a great deal and at that point I no longer cared. This was the only thing that went wrong on our honeymoon and the Omni covered themselves so I forgave them. Anyways the first room (the average one) was in fact a average room. Everything worked, it smelled decent, the beds were nice and the view was perfect. Our Presidential Suite was another story. It was HUGE. We had a kitchen, complete bar, dining room, living room with a wrap around balcony, 2 bathrooms one with a jacuzzi, a walk in closet and a master bedroom with its own balcony. The only thing I would have changed was the bed spread. For having the Presidential Suite I thought the bedspread could have been a little newer. Other than that it was perfect.Man we didn't know what to do with ourselves. Take a look at our pictures.

The food -
We were constantly eating so thats a good sign right? We never had a upset stomach which surprised me because I have a very sensitive stomach. There were only a few restaurants to pick from but they did a great job of changing the food up. The buffet was different every night. We loved the Italian night and the Tex Mex night. The desserts are to die for - its amazing how much detail goes into each dessert. DaVincis was incredible. The food is very decorative and tasty. Fine dining at its best. Make sure you get the Mona Lisa dessert. Pina Colada the beach restaurant was great too. Try the steak sandwich there. One thing all of the restaurants have in common is the waitstaff was VERY attentive. I was never allowed to pull out my own chair, put my own napkin on my lap or poor my own soda into my glass. It was great. How could you not tip? We definitely did and to each their own but we wanted to tip for a job above and beyond! Believe me every tip was well deserved.

The beach -
This was why we decided to go to the Omni and not to Secrets. Some might think we are crazy but to us having a nice beach is much more important. The beach was breath taking. There were some rocks on the beach and in the water because of the recent hurricane but nothing got in our way. None of the rocks were slimy and there was very very little seaweed. What more could you ask for? The Omni beach was a really good size with plenty of papalas. We always had a great papala no matter what time we came to the beach. The wait staff on the beach is wonderful. They took good care of us. In fact they would bring us a bucket of ice and beer and every now and then they would bring us more beer even if we didn't ask. Some days the water wasn't that bright turquoise blue and I associated it with how sunny it was. Regardless you could always see your feet in the water. I was surprised how hard it was to get in and out of the water...the waves are powerful. A good powerful though if that makes any sense. Once you are in the water you just ride the waves. Bring a inflatable floating tube...we wish we had. Being in the ocean down there was one of our most memorable moments.

The jacuzzi/swing bar -
One of the best things Omni could of did was put this bar in. The swings were a nice touch too. We really enjoyed it.

The pools -
We wished they were deeper but they were still nice. The perfect temperature too. There were a few pools so they were never crowded. During the day the pool with the bar was all about activities. Grab a drink and watch how silly people act - it was entertainment in itself. The pool bar was very nice and clean.

The nightlife -
Every night the Omni has a excursion leaving around 10pm. They offer a group rate and in our opinion it was a good deal. It included transportation, entrance into the club and all the drinks you wanted. We paid about $35 per person and was worth every penny when we didn't have to wait in the long line. We visited Coco Bongos and Senior Froggies. Both places were amazing. Coco Bongos is like a Las Vegas show - I don't see how anyone could not like that place. Senior Froggies had the craziest contests all night long - don't offer to participate in any contests if you don't want to be dunked into the lagoon (thats where the looser goes).

The spa -
We had a couples massage on our 2nd day and what a nice time we had. It was $60 per person and I would have paid $100 per person. The spa does everything from hair, nails, wraps, facials and a million different massages. You can schedule a massage by the beach hut if you want for a little bit extra.

Here are some other tips that might help those who haven't gone yet:

Bring some kind of hydro cortisone cream. I had some bites from time to time and I think it was from the sand. Nothing to noticeable though - more annoying than anything.

The airport is ridiculous. We were lied to about being our transportation ad had to fend this guy off for like 10 minutes about not wanting to sign up for a free brunch AKA time share crap.

The taxis are a union and can charge what ever they want. One night we decided to walk back to the Omni from downtown (way too far don't do it) and about 30 taxis pulled over offering us a ride and the closer we got to the Omni the cheaper they offered us a ride at. We only took one taxi ride and the driver was telling us they rent the taxis for the night all gased up for 500 pesos and whatever money they make they keep. So they can charge whatever they want. Always negotiate before you accept a ride. We mainly stuck with the buses (who operate just like the taxi company) and they drive very crazy. I say this and I am from New York. On a few occasions I was for sure we were going to crash into someone.

Xcaret was our least favorite day trip. We though it was way too over rated. We couldn't wait to get back to the hotel to eat. The food was absolutely disgusting. We took the all inclusive day trip and refused to eat anything they offered because there were millions of flies all over everything. It was nasty.

The drinks were top notch. I had many waiters make me things just to try. My favorite was the mango daiquiri. My husband liked Dos Equis and he is a picky beer drinker.

We were never botherd by time share people on the beach. However there were a few days when venders walked the beach trying to sell bracelets and watches. Once we said no they would keep walking.

The pelicans are enormous. They are not afraid of people either. I had one come within 10 feet of me because he thought he was getting free food.

There are kids around but the were never in our way. They had too many other things to be doing. We were hoping this would be the case because it was our honeymoon and lucky for us it was.

All in all we were very happy with our choice and will be going back! I hope this really helps!
