"Perfect Honeymoon"
My wife(23) and I(24) stayed at the Marriot in June of 05. We had the time of our lives. The rooms are clean and the service is great. When I arrived I told the front desk that it was our honeymoon. When we got back from dinner that night our bed was covered in rose petals. There was a path of rose petals to the bathroom that lead to word love spelled out in rose petals on the floor. The tub was also filled with warm water and rose petals. My wife was very pleased to say the least. Better yet, it did not cost me a penny extra. Of course I never told my wife this-lol. The pool was huge and the service was great around the pool area. The beach was also clean and there were plenty of places to lay out. The spa was incredible as well. It smelled great. Just walking up to the front desk at the spa totally relaxes you--a must if you go. The price was also reasonable compared to other hotels of the same rating. The restaraunts are also nice and the service is great. Any time we needed anything the staff was very responsive. They are quick to help with directions and advice. The whole place was beautiful and clean. I can't wait to go back.

My only complaint is that the beds were hard. However, we made a call to the front desk and the maid put a feather matress on the bed.

My wife and I had the time of our lives in Cancun largely in part to the Marriot. We are not into the party scene, but that was not a problem. Cancun is what you make of it. Our trip was the most romantic and relaxing time I have ever had in my life. We can't wait to return.

"Would go back for the 5th time!"
My husband and I have stayed at the JW Marriott 4 times so that must say something about the place. For us it's a great place to let the world go by, relax by and in the wonderful pools. Rooms are very comfortable but how much during the day are you in your room. We've had rooms on the south side 2 times and on the north side 2 times. Must say the view from the 12th floor on the north side is spectacular! Enjoy eating quesadellas by the pool (with a bowl of guacamole). Especially enjoyed the Fajitas at Cafe Salsa - a meal my husband and I usually split because there is so much! Have never had trouble with any service - rooms are always made up promptly and if you need any extra bathroom amenities, they are quick to bring them to you. We would go back again for that rare time of doing nothing except read and let the world go by at a truly enjoyable place.

"Marriott is Kid Friendly - esp. during hurricanes"
Although the weather did not cooperate with our vacation, the hotel itself is beautiful. Marriott Kids Club saved us - with 5 rainy days, the kids begged to try the kids club, then begged some more to go back again. Other reviews I read at this site saved us some money - we asked for a refrigerator for the room which helped us with milk, juice and water. All of these things (and breakfast & snack items) were purchased at the local WalMart SuperCenter, right next door to Sam's Club. (Cancun has come a long way since our last trip in 1990.) Take one of the buses in front of the hotel all the way downtown - there's a sign in the window of the bus indicating it will take you to WalMart. (The airconditioned, very clean buses will cost you $1. The non-A/C bus, that isn't very clean, is about $.60.)

Hotel staff were all very accomodating. Drawbacks were the very expensive food and beverages. Margarita by the pool was $10 u.s. dollars.

Because of Tropical Storm Stan moving through we didn't explore Tulum or any other "off-site" tourist destations. We had promised the kids a swim with the dolphins, and at the suggestions of the concierge, we went to Wet and Wild. After that magnificent experience, we stayed for the afternoon. The weather was clear that morning, but started raining again soon after the dolphin experience. Since there was no lightning, they didn't close the park and we let the kids have fun in the rain. This experience, although not what we had planned before we got there, turned out to be a safe, fun alternative for the kids.

Another plus at the hotel was the Champions Sports Bar. They had a reasonably priced kids menu that my very picky kids enjoyed. They also have a breakfast buffet each morning that is extensive. It's about $20/pp, but we usually skipped lunch and had an early dinner.

We'd love to go back again when the sun would be out - but that's our problem for booking during hurricane season. Just don't do it. One cab driver suggested November-February season. Not as busy, no spring breakers and no hurricanes.

"Beautiful setting and service"
The hotel, rooms, pool area, and beach were absolutely beautiful and immaculate. I've been to Cancun/Playa many times and this is the prettiest stretch of beach I've seen. The service was excellent- prompt, sweet and polite. The only reason the JW dosen't get an excellent across the board was that they could really use a sound system, or infuse a bit of liveliness somehow. It was very, very quiet everywhere, and as it was nice initially, after a couple days the atmosphere was a bit boring.
